Engel - MR40F - Perfect fridge/freezer for our family
My 80 year old neighbour was telling me how he has owned only two Engel's in his life time... His is a little rusty on the outside but still as cold as the day he bought it.. That was all I needed to hear for a great fridge review... Purchased a MR40F Eclipse the next day.. Perfect in every way for what we need... Camping and at the beach.. Nice and easy to carry even when full..

Excellent product
Really good fridge, keeps drinks colder than my fridge. Holds a lot and works with solar panel and deep cycle battery (purchased separately) Highly recommend, bought my husband for Xmas present and he looooves it! Exc for construction men/women to keep food and drinks cold ??

Great fridge for the car...... already have a 60 L Engel but its a bit heavy to carry in and out of the ute........ fridge now lives on the back seat, constantly running with water and a couple of beers in it (lol maybe the other way around)

Engel 40litre Eclipse chest fridge/freezer
This new Engel was purchased recently to replace our fairly new Waceo which had broken down and could not be repaired because of Waeco's absolutely abominable support of that product- parts not available for four months!
This Engel slipped easily into the cavity and slide I had made in the back of the Jackaroo although I had to make a bracket to replace one of the handles being just a few mm deeper. The fridge works really well. I replaced the cigarette-lighter connector with a more reliable Anderson plug and the fused 6sq.mm cable pair I have running direct to the second battery in the engine compartment supplies ample clean power.
The one lack is some specific guidance on where to set the temperature dial. It has 5 major graduations, the first of which is labelled 'fridge' and that's all the information you get. I ran the fridge for a while with a thermometer in the bottom and found that the No.1 (fridge) coincided with about 4C and about 60% of the way towards No.2 coincided with 0C. So now I know where to set the fridge dial to keep the beer cold and where to set it to not freeze the salad!
At the very least, there should be some guidance on settings in the user manual and perhaps some extra, finer graduating marks on the setting dial.
All in all a quality, high performance product which we expect to enjoy for many years and anticipate Engel's excellent product support when it inevitably misbehaves after a long and trouble-free life.

Don't leave home without an Engel
if anyone is looking for a fridge freezer i recommend the Engel, we got the 38L one as it is just the two of us camping and its small enough that it doesnt take up much room.
its better than taking an esky camping as you dont get water in your food and have to buy ice every couple of days. its sturdy and doesnt mind getting knocked around on our 4WD trips
