Poles snapped in 35-40km/hr winds
I shopped around before buying this tent. When I chose to buy it from BCF it was on sale. It seems it's always on sale since then.... I now know why. We have only been on our second camping trip since buying it, not yet 1year ago. I'm already needing spare parts or a new tent.
Our camping spot is normally a windy place, however the winds got up to 35-40km/hr a few days ago and it stayed this way for about 6 hours.
At first we sat against one side of the tent to help stop it from caving in on that side as the winds picked up... after 1hour we discovered the tent was great at keeping the rain out. The stitching is well done and rope attachments seem strong. The floor was great too as we were under a tree and the ground outside the tent got a bit flooded when the heavy rain hit. We stayed dry inside.
Sadly, we stayed elsewhere that night as the poles weren't suitable and one pole elastic had snapped. This was easy to sort out temporarily the next night as the winds dropped and it rained less ..... but after seeing how well other families tents held up- I was quite disappointed.
Oh- the fly doesn't seem to fit well either. The seems/ poles and inner part of the tent don't seem to align with the fly. I have a feeling this may have been another factor that created problems with the pole and tent sides caving in.
We also used some stronger tent pegs for the main ropes.
The tent is a great size and easy to put up. The bag is too small too.
Generally- I would recommend to people who only camp in good weather and can buy it on special, as you can fin better options at the full advertised price
